Drscription
Okachiyama Eisada was a master craftsman representing Mino during the Edo period, and has been recognized by many Juyo Tokens. His name was Matsui Jiichiro, and he was born in Bunka 6th in Fuwa County, Mino Province, and is said to be a descendant of Kaneshige, the father of Mino blacksmithing. He forged swords in Matsue and Ise, served as the official swordsmith for the Kishu Tokugawa family for a time before moving to Kishu, and then forged swords in Ise, Edo Aoyama, and other places. In the Meiji era, he returned to his hometown at the foot of Mt. Okachi and died in 1869 at the age of 61.
Okachiyama is the mountain where Tokugawa Ieyasu set up camp during the Battle of Sekigahara, and was named after him after his victory.
