- 福岡一文字派は鎌倉初期、後鳥羽院御番鍛冶則宗を祖として始まると伝え、鎌倉中期にかけて多くの良工を輩出した。国宝の山鳥毛が最も有名であるが、鎌倉中期に最盛期を迎え最も絢爛豪華な刃文を焼いた。この刀は、反り深く、腰反りつき、猪首鋒となる鎌倉中期の生茎で作刀時の姿を留めた優美な姿を呈し、杢目肌が並び、乱れ映りが立つ精良で美しい地鉄に、焼き幅大きな丁子に、蛙子丁子・袋丁子・小丁子など交え、飛び焼き頻りに掛り、変化に富み華やかに乱れ、足・葉頻りに入り、小沸よくつき、黒く輝く金筋が頻りに掛り、匂口明るく冴える傑作である。The Fukuoka Ichimonji faction reported that it started with Gotobain Gobankaji Norimune in the early Kamakura period, and many good craftsmen were produced in the middle of Kamakura.
