Drscription
The Ayanokoji school was active from the early to mid-Kamakura period, and the founder of the school, Sadatoshi, is cited as a representative worker, followed by Sadakichi, Sadanori, Jougou, and Sueyuki. The characteristics of the Ayanokoji school include the graceful appearance of the sword and the elaborate ground iron, which are typical of Yamashiro Den. It has been considered to be of the same era as Sokokugyo, but in recent years the mainstream view is that it is a school close to the Sanjo and Gojo schools.
This sword has an elegant appearance with a deep curve, a curved waist, and a small tip. The highlights of Ayanokoji are well shown, such as , 20 blades, rich work in the middle of the blade, and a moist heart. It is the descendant of Yoichi Nasu, who shot down a fan with his bow in the Battle of Yashima.
