- 真長は、光忠の子すなわち長光の弟と伝え、一門中特に直刃調の作を得意として、小丁子を交え、小足が入る古雅な作風をみせ、匂口の締まった刃紋と、長光一門の得意としたのたれ込んで小丸に返る三作帽子などが見どころである。
本作は、身幅尋常、反りやや深く、腰反りつき、鋒小さめの品の良い姿の太刀で、乱れ映りが立つ美しい地鉄に、直刃調、小丁子乱れに互の目交じり、湯走り頻りに掛り、地にかけて匂が頻りに煙込み、小沸つき、金筋幾重にも頻りに掛り、匂深く、匂口明るい傑作である。Sanenaga is said to have been the son of Mitsutada—and thus the younger brother of Nagamitsu—and was particularly skilled at crafting sword featuring the *Suguha* (straight) style within the school's tradition. Mixed Small-Chouji, It exhibits an elegant style characterized by the presence of Small-Ashi.
